Here is a list of common and practical smart devices we can install. Note, if you don’t see your smart device listed here, let us know, and we can help.
1. Smart Doorbells
Ring, Nest Hello, and similar smart doorbells have built-in cameras and motion sensors. They let you see who's at your door and talk to them from your phone (even if you’re not home). Installation usually involves swapping out an existing doorbell and connecting to Wi-Fi.
2. Smart Locks
Schlage, Yale, August, and other brands offer keyless smart locks. They allow for remote locking / unlocking, creating temporary access codes for guests, and logging entry / exit times. Most are made to retrofit existing deadbolts or locks.
3. Smart Light Switches and Bulbs
Devices like Lutron Caseta, TP-Link Kasa, or Philips Hue bulbs can be installed to automate lights, set schedules, or sync with voice assistants. Switches do require wiring but aren’t much harder to install than a standard light switch.
4. Smart Faucet
Most smart faucets mount in standard sink holes and install just like traditional ones. We’ll need to install batteries or wire to an outlet for some models, but should not need to reroute plumbing. Examples would be Moen MotionSense which has infrared motion sensors, typically one on top and one at the base, to detect hand movements or objects, controlling water flow without touching the faucet. Another option is Delta Touch2O which activates with a touch anywhere on the spout or handle.
5. Smart Smoke and CO Detectors
Nest Protect and similar products send alerts to your phone if something’s wrong. They’re usually mounted like standard detectors.
6. Smart Garage Door Openers
Devices from Chamberlain MyQ and others allow you to open / close your garage door remotely and get alerts if it’s left open.
7. Security Cameras
Indoor and outdoor smart cameras from Arlo, Blink, Wyze, and Ring are are wireless or require wall mounting and plugging in.
8. Smart Fireplace: Smart fireplaces are modern heating appliances that can be controlled via smartphone apps, voice assistants (like Alexa or Google Assistant), or remote controls. They often feature programmable schedules, adjustable flames, temperature sensors, and sometimes integration with broader smart home ecosystems. Some suggestions and example:
