Exterior Paint: We have knowledge of paints that stand up to extreme weather conditions. We help you choose paints that offer protection against moisture caused by rain, snow, ultraviolet radiation caused by sunlight, and fungal growth.
Long Lasting Quality Paints: Paint should include soft resins so it doesn’t crack on contraction or expansion.
Sheen: Flat paint won’t bubble when it rains allowing water to escape. However, we can discuss your sheen preference.
Process
1. Inspection, Prep Work, Exterior Repairs
- Walk around the house, inspect for damaged siding, peeling paint, and mildew.
- Repair any Damaged Areas: Replace rotted wood, missing or damaged trim and siding. Remove cracked or chipped paint, fill holes with exterior filler, and caulk cracks or joints.
2. Surface Cleaning
- Wash the entire exterior of the house. It is highly suggested to pressure wash the entire surface to remove dirt, mildew, and loose paint.
- Let the surface dry completely—usually 24–48 hours.
3. Scraping and Sanding
- Scrape off any loose or peeling paint with a scraper or wire brush.
- Sand rough areas to smooth everything out and ensure good adhesion.
4. Priming
- Prime any bare wood or previously repaired sections.
- In cases where the previous paint is in poor shape, a full-coat primer may be required.
5. Protecting Surroundings
- Cover bushes, decks, patios, windows, and walkways with plastic sheeting or drop cloths.
- Tape around windows, trims, and doors for crisp paint lines.
6. Painting
- Use a brush or roller for smaller areas and detail work; a sprayer for large, flat surfaces.
- Start from the top (gutters and eaves) and work your way down to the lower sections and siding.
- Paint doors, window trim, and other details last.
7. Second Coat
- Once the first coat is fully dry, apply a second coat for added protection and color depth (unless one coat coverage is guaranteed by your paint and conditions are ideal). Work from top to bottom in manageable sections.
- The finish coat (s) needs time to cure, so we'll keep an eye on the weather forecast for the next couple of days.
8. Final Touch Ups and Inspection
- Walk the perimeter and touch up any missed spots, drips, or uneven edges.
- Double check for cleanup—paint splatters, trash, or forgotten tape.
- We'll ask if you are happy with the job.
Weather Conditions & Techniques: Ideal weather to paint includes dry conditions, moderate temperatures (typically between 55-90°F), and low humidity. We start on the shady side of the house and follow the sun around to avoid painting in direct sunlight, which can cause the paint to dry too quickly.
Stand Out: Leave a lasting impression by having the exterior of your home painted. A new aesthetic will create curb appeal. Transform your home's exterior and add value to your property. A proper exterior paint job is one of the best investments you can make in your home's appearance and protection.
